Eternal Spring  February Updates

A great start to 2023 for Eternal Spring!

ETERNAL SPRING (長春) has continued its incredible run through January, receiving a nomination at the 50th Annie Awards (Best Writing) and being named a SIMA Award Finalist for ‘Best Documentary’. The film is also up for three national film prizes in Canada with the Vancouver Film Critics Circle announcing nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Canadian Documentary.

The latest recognition comes following the film’s nomination for the IDA Documentary Awards (also Best Writing) in December.

ETERNAL SPRING also continued its outstanding festival run, claiming the Audience Award at the Budapest International Documentary Festival. This brings the film’s total festival honour tally to 16!

Earlier in January, Canada’s Official Submission for the 2023 Academy Awards® also joined the Palm Springs International Film Festival as part of the Oscar Buzz program, playing three shows with overwhelming response.

A full house in the Richards Center for the Performing Arts at Palm Springs High School screening.

Next up, Eternal Spring will be the Opening Night Film at the largest film festival in Canada’s North, the Available Light Film Festival in Whitehorse. Director Jason Loftus and producer Masha Loftus will be in attendance.

Meanwhile, the film continues its theatrical run, playing in theatres now in Australia (completing a seventh week), Netherlands and Belgium.

There is more to come, with theatrical releases coming soon in France and Taiwan.

SPECIAL PARLIAMENT SCREENING IN CANADA

The issues of freedom of belief and freedom of speech in China will be centre stage on Feb. 13 with a special screening of ETERNAL SPRING (長春) in Ottawa sponsored by a bipartisan group of legislators. The Honourable Judy A. Sgro, P.C., M.P., and Garnett Genuis, P.C., M.P., will host the screening at 5:30 p.m. ET. Contact us for more details.

We want to thank all those who supported the Oscars campaign for Eternal Spring including Telefilm Canada and Ontario Creates.

ETERNAL SPRING was the only film this year to qualify in all three categories of Best International Feature, Best Documentary Feature, and Best Animated Feature Film. While falling short of a nomination, we are grateful to have had the support of so many Academy members.
